Chemistry Builds a Winner

It took the Yankees 9 years to win another Championship. It took a change in the line-up and a new stadium. But most importantly, it took chemistry.

You can't discount what that ingredient can do in a winning recipe. Certainly Jeter has spent the last 17 years of his life with some of the same team mates. But it wasn't until the addition of key elements to turn the Yankees into the World Champs for the 27th time.

My point? Winning teams take time and patience. No one gave up on the Yankees when they didn't even make the post season. They just needed the right ingredients. They got them this season and the change was evident.

So while the Islanders winning streak was cut off at four last night when the Sabres shut them out, I'm hoping that everyone realizes it takes time to build a winner. Time, patience and chemistry.

Let's enjoy the World Series win, Matsui's MVP, Mariano's desire to play another five years, A-Rod's post-season prowess, Andy's reliability, Swisher's insanity, Teixeira's exuberance, Captain Clutch just being himself and the magic of Kate Hudson. THANK YOU!!!

Isles practice today before heading to NJ on Friday and then the last home game on Saturday before a REALLY long road trip. I'm hoping Robbie Schremp will actually be a hockey player and not just a tourist.

Dee, "the magic of Kate Hudson"?
What magic? You wait. She's a jinx I tell you. She dated Lindros once upon a time. Scott Stevens hit and the career filled with concussions ended. She dates and marries Chris Robisnon from Black Crowes, they haven't had a hit since. Then Actor Owen Wilson, he tries to commit suicide. Next up, Heath Ledger, overdose. Cyclist Lance Armstrong? diagnosed with ball cancer. Now A-Rod. I shudder at the thought of what might happen when they break up.

It took over 200 million in pitching not chemistry.

Really? Then Tell CC Sabathia that because he's the one that said Chemistry along with Jeter. I'm a wannabe reporter dude. I write what I HEAR!

Comparing the Islanders to the Rangers is like comparing apples and oranges. The Yankees spend money, play in NYC (not the burbs of LI) win, and have a season ticket base better then 5,000

You should be comparing how a real New York dynasty built their championship tradition without a 4-1 payroll advantage or a roster with players who cheated taking performance enhancing drugs.

The Yankees (or Mets, Red Sox, Phillies) will never match the New York Islanders dynasty winning nineteen straight playoffs because they are not about character or heart and would be nothing if baseball hard a hard salary cap.

Only about a spending advantage.

What's next Charles Wang should be given 500m in tax exemptions like the Yankees to rebuild the Coliseum so he can go out and purchase a hockey dynasty.

It's all about chemistry. If all it took was money it wouldn't have been nine years between championships for the Yankees.

I'll relate it to my Amerks hockey team this season (thanks to Ted Nolan!). They went out and spent money on building a team of players that would have great chemistry together and it shows with their record.

Also... you're not a wannabe reporter, you know what you're talking about!

OH! CC Sabathia and Derek Jeter said it was chemistry so it must be true!

It took a checkbook for the Yankees to win, nothing more.

At least in the NHL, the Isles have a chance at wininng another championship since there's a salary cap. There are at least 10 teams in MLB that will never, ever win another World Series.
