So close! Isles fall to Caps in Shootout

A point. Yes, the Islanders managed to gain one point in thier first away game of this extended road trip. But they could have come away with two. It would have been a fitting end to a good game that saw Matt Moulson score his eighth of the season, Sean Bergenhiem score his second, Streit his third and Trent Hunter his second of the season to tie the game and bring it to overtime.

It was a good game. But I really didn't watch too much of it. I was at my friend Wendy's house with my friends. We did have the game on, we watched a good portion of it, but we only sat down to watch when they entered the shootout.

Eleven rounds, it was a goalie duel. But I have to say, when you watch a game with an ex-NHLer, it's like watching a game with a damn psycic. He knew every shot that was coming and even told us who would actually score. I'll admit... it was freakin' annoying... but oddly cool.

I wore a jersey and my Islanders socks. I never get to wear this stuff anymore. I did bring my laptop and didn't even break it out of the case. I screamed and cheered when Sean scored his second and then promptly had an arguement about his abilities.
I actually willed Trent Hunter to tie the game. Yes, you can thank me for the point. I stood in front of the big screen TV and yelled at it, "SCORE DAMN YOU!" and with that, Trent did.
Robbie Schremp did manage an assist point in his first game back after sitting in the press box for nine. But he couldn't convert in the shoot out. Hardly anyone could. Eleven rounds, that's rediculous that it would take that many rounds to decide a game. But it did.
I was a little dissapointed in the faceoff percentage for tonight, although much better than that 17% in Buffalo. Tonight it was at 43%. I seriously like the 70% percentage better.
But it's still a point. And the Islanders, without Kyle Okposo, Blake Comeau and Doug Weight will take it.
And I will take some Advil and go to sleep.
