Sad News of a Dedicated Fan's Passing

Also at HockeyBuzz, the news of Brendan Witt's being placed on unconditional waivers pending the assumed buyout of his contract.

When I saw the title of the email from the Booster Club, I knew. Gary Harding had to deliver the news that long time fan, Bill Hayes had lost his battle with cancer and passed at the age of 85.

Bill Hayes, or "Mr. Bill" as he was known, never missed a game unless he really had to. He had his place in Sec 309 and was known to all the regulars.

I have to find the articles that were written on him, but it is a sad day in Islanders Country.

From Travel Chick: @7thWoman Until this season "Mr Bill" never missed more than 4 games in 37 years as an Islanders season ticket holder.
