Matt Moulson: No Winners

Matt Moulson has been one of my favorite Islanders since his arrival in Uniondale. He is hardworking and humble and just happy to be there at the start. He is genuine and honest and someone I truly enjoyed watching succeed. With the birth of his daughter, Matt did not run to Europe during the lock-out but opted to stay home with family at home in Connecticut and cheer on his brother-in-law, Sean Backes, on the Sound Tigers. He is working out and trying to stay in game shape waiting for a season to begin. This interview from Monday is clear example why I have always liked this guy. While looking for a fair deal between the owners and players, you can tell Matt believes in being 'fair.' He, like fans, believes there are no winners in this game of chicken and has felt there was a deal to make all along. Matt Moulson on HC @ Noon on Canada's Fan590. Thanks to Luke Fox on Sportsnet.com for posting the interview from Monday afternoon. On December 11th, Mark Streit turned 35-years-old. Garth Snow's diamond find is now in his last year of his contract with the New York Islanders and if there is no season to be had will probably never see the ice in Uniondale again. I am guessing that would leave the door open for John Tavares to take the Captaincy whenever NHL hockey returns. Okay, was that an example of stating the obvious? Yes, I think so. Travis Hamonic is still recovering from whatever it is that ails him at home in the prairie. We wish him a speedy recover should their be a season mid January. We'd very much like to see him back in his Islander sweater. Anyone know where Hammer's partner AMac has been all this time? I imagine he's playing somewhere. Can we hope they'll be playing in Uniondale mid month? Can we? Both sides should meet sometime today as the continue to digest counter proposal after counter proposal looking for a compromise. Me -- I'm back to work.

You don't think Garth will resign Streit to a one or two year deal? Do you think the Isles need Streit?
