Isles Vs NJD Take 3

2-1 Loss for the Isles.

Nino with some excellent shifts during the first and the Devils have the 1st power play of the night when Hammonic is called for hooking Parise. Grabner steals the puck in his zone during the Power Play but doesn't get a shot off in his short handed attempt. Power play ends without a shot on goal by the Devils.

Second period and both teams skating hard, but it's the Isles that go to the first power play of the period on a two many men on the ice penalty.

Nilsson plays DiPietro by skating out to challenge and shoot the puck which was batted down by Zach Parise.

No shots on the Isles PP either. Both teams playing very well.

Some of the plays have been so close for both teams.

With 1:20 left of the second period, Anders Nilsson is still amazing. Nilsson snatched a Zubrus shot out of the air.

With only nine seconds left of the second period, Mark eat is called for holding.

Start of third with Eaton in the box and Michael Grabner blocks a shot by diving across the ice at the blue line and limps off to the bench.

Hamonic and Parise having words after Nilsson makes a big save and kills off the penalty to Eaton.

Elias almost scores on Nilsson but no one was there for the rebound, which was lucky as the net was wide open on the right.

Nilsson making some excellent saves that are making huge thud noises against his pads.

Delayed penalty on the Devils and Nilsson heads off the ice for the extra skater. Finally a whistle is blown and Carter heads to the box and Nilsson back to his net.

Isles power play still can't figure out the other excellent Swedish goaltender.

John Tavares finally breaks through from the left of Hedberg just over his elbow giving the Isles a 1 goal lead at 6:46 of the third period. Moulson and Parenteau assists.

Clarkson gets the Devils on the board with less than 2 minutes left of the third as the puck manages to find the smallest of spaces between Nilsson's pad and the post.

Worst yet, PA Parenteau takes a penalty behind the net gives the Devils a power play and the Devils score in five seconds off the face off on a screened shot.

Nilsson headed to the bench for the extra skater. Try as they might, the Isles couldn't get past the Devils in the final few seconds.

What a horrible turn of evens as Jack Capuano looked liked he was going to have an aneurysm behind the bench.

Fourteen seconds, two goal for the Devils and game over for the Isles. In more ways than one.

Howie called it "stunning." They had done everything right for 58 minutes. But Clarkson turned the game around for the Devils and the stupidity of PA Parenteau taking a penalty with so little time on the clock just killed the Islanders.

Stunning is a good word for it Howie.  One big team mistake according to Billy Jaffe.

What will Capuano say?  What is there to say?
