An Isles Game for The Califano Family

On this Islander off day when there really is no news to speak of, (no news of Radek, Milan or who they took on the trip to replace the injuried D.) I'd like to take this opportunity to mention a good cause and a great way to get to an Islander game for an affordable price.

I received this information from a reader and a long time Islander fan who puts his life on the line daily as a Nassau Policeman. Please read it, and please support the fundraiser.

As I’m sure you’ve seen in the news recently, P.O. Michael Califano, was killed in a tragic motor vehicle accident on the Long Island Expressway on February 5th. He left behind a wife and three young boys. I’m sure you can sympathize with the difficult time this family is experiencing.

Prior to being a Nassau County Police Officer, Michael Califano was a Nassau County Sherriff (Corrections Officer) for ten years at the Nassau County Jail in East Meadow. On Sunday March 6th, a team of NCPD players will face off against a team of NCSD players prior to the Islanders vs. Devils game at Nassau Coliseum with the proceeds going to the Califano family. This event was thrown together very quickly based on Coliseum availability and really can’t be done justice as far as promotion.
