Isles vs Bruins Rookie Squads Game 2

Isles on Twitpic
Thanks to Adam Malmut for his photo down by the glass.

Here we are and there are my friends Pat and his beautiful daugter down at the glass with his signs getting ready for the game.

And the Ice has been painted witht he 40th anniversary logo. Looking spiffy and ready.

Well, the game started and there were three fights in five seconds. The penalty boxes were filled. It was a little rediculous, but that was pay back for last night. By 12:40 of the 1st McNeely scored the first Islander goal and Strome scored the second. The Bruins had 1 shot on net while the Isles scored twice on 9.

Mark Katic left the bench doubled over in pain and was helped to the dressing room.

Ryan Strome and Nino Niederreiter are continuing to make names for thesmselves as they continue to rack up points in the first period. Strome with his second goal and Nino with more assists.

Andres Nilsson looking solid in net but not really being tested on only 7 shots with only 2:36 left of the 1st.

By 2:06 left, Casey Cizikas makes it 4 - 0 Islanders with an assist by Kirill Kabanov and the new #55, Aaron Ness.

Nino scores the Isles 5th goal while I was stilltrying to get back to the press box from the concession stands. The new Isles Team store will hopefully be open for the pre-season game here at the Coliseum. It's looking good.

Mark Katic becomes the second casualty of the rookie games as he is now out with a dislocated left shoulder. oh.great.

Justin DiBenedetto made it 6 - 0 as the puck just slid under the Bruins goalie while there was a flurry of bodies in his crease.

Gallant is proving to be a formidable opponent as he beats Camera and they both go off for fighting. Nilsson clears the puck all the way down the ice and it looks like an icing but Kabanov manages to get to the corner first and pass it out front of the Bruins net where Casey Cizikas makes it 7 - 0 Isles.

Only a few ticks later, Cunningham blows Nilsson's shut out to make it 7 - 1 Isles. But the Bruins are on the board as the time winds down. The Isles continue to take penalties as Matt Donova is called for slashing leaving the Isles short handed.
